Dr. Bob is a listed artist in the 1993 book 20th Century American Folk, Self Taught
and Outsider Art
Crow Indian and half French/German. He came to New Orleans in 1958
and now lives across "Lake Pontchartrain."
Shaffer fishes, hunts and crabs, in the process he has become very familiar with
alligators which appear in his work.
He used to carve only for family or friends. His woodcarvings feature birds and
creatures from the swamp and the woods. They have tremendous appeal... (HOME),
